Work Truck Vehicle Solutions: Durable Components for Harsh Conditions

How Form Manufacturing Crafts High-Quality Badges That Last.

From commercial transport to construction, trucks are essential to making the world go round. Their durability and reliability support businesses, economies, and industries worldwide. While their performance is top priority, appearance and longevity matter, too. Every truck on the road represents a brand, and its overall look and feel reflect that brand’s standards and identity.

One of the most prominent elements of that identity is the truck’s badge, typically displaying a company logo or product name. Though small, it makes a strong impression. Custom badges provide a professional and visually powerful way to help vehicles and their brands stand out and remain memorable. This is especially true on trucks, where grille and rear emblems are often among the first details people notice.

Because trucks are constantly exposed to rain, sun, and harsh environmental conditions, exterior components — especially badges — must be built to endure the elements while maintaining their appearance over time. At Form Manufacturing, we specialize in producing high-quality badges with the durability to last in demanding conditions, employing several advanced badging solutions:

Injection Molding

Injection molding is a precision manufacturing process in which molten material is injected into a custom mold to produce consistent, high-quality components at scale. It delivers exceptional detail, durability, and repeatability while offering cost efficiency for high-volume production.

Injection molding enhances the durability of truck badges by creating a precise, uniform structure that resists common forms of wear and environmental stress. Using high-performance resins and tightly controlled tooling, the process produces components with consistent wall thickness and strong internal integrity, reducing the risk of cracking, warping, or deformation over time.

This structural consistency is especially important for badges exposed to vibration, road debris, and frequent temperature changes. Additionally, injection molding provides an ideal foundation for durable finishing processes, such as chrome plating, UV-resistant coatings, and painted metallic layers.

Finishing Solutions

Finishing solutions play a critical role in enhancing the durability of vehicle badges by protecting the underlying material from environmental exposure and everyday wear. Processes such as chrome plating, UV-resistant clear coatings, and painted metallic finishes create a protective barrier that shields the badge from sunlight, moisture, road salt, and temperature fluctuations. Without these finishes, even well-molded components can fade, corrode, or degrade over time. When properly applied, these coatings help maintain color integrity, surface smoothness, and overall visual appeal for years.

In addition to protection, these finishing techniques improve the structural longevity of the badge by strengthening the bond between layers and reducing the likelihood of peeling, chipping, or flaking. Advanced surface preparation and plating processes ensure strong adhesion, while UV inhibitors prevent discoloration and material breakdown caused by prolonged sun exposure.

Together, these finishing solutions not only preserve the badge’s appearance but also reinforce its ability to withstand harsh real-world conditions, making them essential to delivering a truly durable, premium product.

Automotive Adhesives

High-performance badge adhesives, such as 3M automotive adhesive, play a crucial role in ensuring long-term durability and secure attachment. These pressure-sensitive adhesives are specifically engineered to withstand the demanding conditions vehicles face every day, including temperature extremes, moisture, vibration, and exposure to road chemicals. Unlike lower-quality adhesives that can weaken or fail over time, automotive-grade options maintain a strong, consistent bond between the badge and the vehicle surface, helping prevent lifting, shifting, or detachment.

Beyond initial adhesion, these advanced bonding solutions are designed to perform over the full lifecycle of the vehicle. They accommodate slight expansions and contractions caused by temperature changes without losing integrity, and they resist degradation from UV exposure and environmental stress. When paired with proper surface preparation and application, high-quality adhesives not only improve installation reliability but also contribute significantly to the badge’s overall durability, ensuring it remains firmly in place and visually intact for years.

Past Project Highlights

When it comes to crafting high-quality badges for iconic brands, Form Manufacturing has an impressive portfolio, including…

Best known for their Fox Racing Shox brand of off-road racing components, Fox Factory worked with Form Manufacturing on two distinct badges: their full-name wordmark logo (or logo mark) and a SUPERCHARGED logo for their 2024 Fox Factory Edition Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The limited-edition truck featured a 6.2-liter V8 engine, a Whipple Gen V supercharger that produced 700 horsepower, and a high-performance suspension system designed by Fox Factory.

Specializing in EV trucks, vans, and fleet vehicles used for a variety of applications, such as retail, parcel delivery, and utilities, Blue Arc EV is a brand of Aebi Schmidt Group — the global leader in specialty vehicle solutions. Form Manufacturing designed and engineered badges for Blue Arc EV featuring two logo types — their iconic “A” monogram, or lettermark, logo and their full-name wordmark (or logo mark) logo.

An industry-leading designer and manufacturer of innovative towing solutions,  Reese asked Form Manufacturing to design and produce a product badge for their various pin box solutions that would leverage their existing brand strategy with Form’s badge expertise, offer flexibility for different product configurations, and minimize tooling costs.

Injection molded products

Knapheide is North America’s most popular manufacturer of work truck bodies and truck beds. Form Manufacturing created and produced a product emblem for their iconic logo, featuring automotive-grade chrome electroplating over an injection-molded substrate with a matte black ink fill inside the lettering. The part was designed to be installed using an automotive-grade, die-cut foam adhesive and molded pins on the back of the part for mistake-free alignment in Knapheide’s assembly process.

With over 20 years of injection molding experience, Form Manufacturing offers the look and longevity to make your trucks, appliances, or other products stand out from the competition.
